A Mother For Choco at the Fringe

Three performances still remain for the Gustavus Adolphus College fringe show A Mother for Choco (& Other Mother Stories). Based on the children’s book by Keiko Kasza, Amy Seham and Anne Sawyer-Aitch collaborated with students Kim Braun, Robert Croghan, Lydia Francis, Andrea Gullixson, and Jordan Klitzke to create a script, puppets, masks, songs, and dances which blend together to create a show engaging to both kids and adults with a message that can be appreciated by all. Especially relevant to the adoption community, the story follows a little bird, Choco, as he searches for a mother only to find that he cannot find one who looks just like him. As he is beginning to lose hope mother bear comes along and asks him, “What does a mommy do?”, explaining that what a mother looks like is not important as long as there is love.

The remaining show times are as follows:
Tues., Aug. 4th at 5:30 pm
Fri., Aug. 7th at 5:30 pm
Sat., Aug. 8th at 2:30 pm

Tickets can be bought at the door ($12 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under) and a $4 button is also required for admission to all shows. The run time is about 40 minutes so there is plenty of time to see other shows before or after if one would like to see a whole days worth of great fringe shows. Discounts apply to packages of tickets. Check out the fringe website (www.fringefestival.org) for more information on this and other shows. A Mother for Choco performs at the Rarig Center Xperimental Theatre, 330 21st Ave. S., Minneapolis.
