Four Gustavus Adolphus College alumni are preparing to perform in the production of Choreographer Jeffrey Peterson’s Thinkingaview at this year’s Minnesota Fringe Festival Aug. 6-14.
Jordan Klitzke ’10, Sarah Jabar ’10, Patrick Jeffrey ’10, and Ashleigh Penrod ’04 are all part of the cast of Thinkingaview which combines music, dance, and cultural commentary. Thinkingaview is written by Jeffrey Peterson who will be joining the Gustavus faculty in 2010-11 in a fulltime capacity in the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Performed to rave reviews and sold-out audiences at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theatre in 2006, Minneapolis dance writer Linda Shapiro called Thinkingaview “fun, poignant, and extremely well orchestrated!” Within athletic dancing and great music, Thinkingaview lightheartedly disguises social scrutiny as cabaret-style entertainment.

The goal of Thinkingaview is to raise a mirror to the members of the audience, asking viewers to think about how they view their own and others’ relationships, no matter who or what they might be. The work presents equality by manipulating expectation: through emotionally charged dancing, innuendo-laden partnering, timely choreographic shifts, gendered repetitions, and bold costume choices, Thinkingaview blatantly encourages us to love and perceive love without judgment.
Thinkingaview will be performed at the Southern Theatre on Washington Avenue in Minneapolis on the following dates and times:
* Friday, Aug. 6, 7 p.m.
* Sunday, Aug. 8, 8:30 p.m.
* Monday, Aug. 9, 5:30 p.m.
* Friday, Aug. 13, 10 p.m.
* Saturday, Aug. 14, 8:30 p.m.
Tickets are $12 plus $4 for an admission button. For more information about Thinkingaview, contact Peterson at 612-916-8877.
